Left On

I left a light on for you
in the hallway by my door
outside my room
it slips in  
enough that I can see it
on the floor

with my eyes closed
I see the hallway bright
with my left on light
and you shuffling
with your keys
turning the lock
your quiet entrance
I don't even hear

When I awake I find
I left a light on for you
but you wouldn't see
why I would bother leaving
anything, you said,
afterall, I am alone

but it's not so dark
